Tonsils out!

Yes, our little-man, Cade, needed to have his tonsils out at age three. Poor fella has been sick basically every winter of his life... at age one, we did tubes in both ears... at age two, we did tubes again and removed his enlarged adenoids... now, at age three, we're removing huge-mongous tonsils!
Here he is before surgery... happy as a little bird! Bless his heart, he had no idea what was coming (& neither did we!).

"Boppy" and the hospital teddy bear went with him to surgery & were with him waking up. He did really well during surgery, but didn't really want to wake up afterwards. :) When we were moved from recovery into a regular room, I carried him in my lap while we were pushed in a wheelchair. He had to stay the night due to his age. It's a good thing, too, because he didn't want to swallow ANYTHING the first 24 hours.
Here he is after surgery. They started him on IV medication in his room, including steroids (yuck!). Look at his color... he got so hot & red when he started the medicine! Notice the blown-out cheeks, too... He didn't even want to swallow his own spit! He'd hold it in his mouth as long as he could, then sometimes swallow a little or let it drool out! :( I felt so sorry for him!
Howie stayed the night with Cade at the hospital. After about 5:00 am the next morning, he began willingly swallowing - medicine, drink, & even a little breakfast food.
After a few days at home, Cade-o began looking like his old-self again. Hooray! He's been recovering well... loving popsicles & jello & "cakesters"... and taking his medicine like a big boy! We'll be anxiously awaiting the "all is well & clear" from the doctor in a few weeks.
